Frequently asked questions
1. What is natural henna?
Henna is derived from the leaves of the henna plant, Lawsonia intermis. The powder form is typically made into a paste and applied to your skin. The henna paste includes natural henna powder, sugar, tea leaves, water, and an essential oil like Eucalyptus, Clove and Lavender oil.
2. How long henna Paste to leave on your hands?
It is recommended to leave the paste on at least 5-6 hours or more. Leave paste on overnight for best results. The longer the paste stays on the skin, the darker the stain will be.
3. How long will my Henna stain last?
There is no definite time on how long your stain will last as everyone skin and routine wash/ exfoliation is different however it can last anywhere between 1-3 weeks depending on the area the paste is applied and how well you take care of your stain.
When to apply LEMON AND SUGAR:
Only once the henna is Dry!

The lemon will react with the henna and moisten the henna. Only when the henna is wet will it be staining the skin, so by re-moistening the henna you will be effectively darkening the colour. The sugar will help keeping the henna sticking to your skin. We recommend applying 2-3 times whenever the henna gets dry.

4. How Henna works with your body?
Heat helps intensify the stain, so keep your skin warm while the paste is still on especially through the first 24 hours of application. Henna reacts with the temperature of the body. Your hands & feet are the hottest part of the body and will hence darken more than other parts of the body.
Henna reacts with the temperature of your skin, so is not instantly dark brown as some customers may assume. Once the henna is dry and begins to flake off, the skin is initially stained a light orange colour and darken over 2-3 days to red/brown color.
Henna stains take 48 hours to develop.
5. What Things to avoid or take care of?
Please avoid water contact for 18-24 hrs after removing the paste. Do not USE WATER WHEN REMOVING THE PASTE:
Use Mustard oil or Desi ghee to scrape the dry henna paste.
The less you touch water, the better.
6. Does your Henna contain harmful chemicals?
No! All the products which I use on my clients are free from harmful chemicals and completely natural and therefore make it safe for skin applications however as with anything if you are allergic to any of the ingredients used in my henna products, please let me know in advance prior to our appointment.
7. How to wrap Henna hands to darken the color?
To turn henna even darker in color the best method for this is to wrap the skin in Tissue/toilet paper or by wearing socks, this method should be applied when henna is completely dried. By wrapping the skin will stay warm and it will even absorb any moisture/sweat.
Please do not use cling films or plastic bags.
